Christopher D. Rand, CFE, CIA, CM, serves as Inspector General with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services. His responsibilities include the development of agency policy and federal reporting related to the CFSP, APSR, and CFSR PIP, assisting the agency in accomplishing its objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the organization’s governance, risk management, and internal controls. He monitors sub-grantees to ensure funds are used for the purposes they are awarded and investigates complaints or offenses committed by agency employees or contractors. He is an experienced Certified Internal Auditor with a demonstrated history of working in State Government. He is skilled in leading projects, training, coaching, mentoring, and conducting training courses. Chris is a strong business professional with a master’s focused in Business Administration from Jackson State University. He has a Certification in Management through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM), and he is a Certified Fraud Examiner through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He has over 16 years of auditing and leadership experience in State Government working as an Agency Field Auditor for the MS Office of the State Auditor, a Corporate Tax Auditor at the MS Department of Revenue, an Accounting and Finance Director at MDCPS, and the Director of Internal Audit at MS Department of Human Services. Chris is a very family-oriented person and is motivated by the knowledge that some children in Mississippi are being abused, neglected, or don’t have anyone to call their family. In his role, he strives to add value and help improve the agency's effectiveness by evaluating processes, policies, and procedures, thus allowing the workforce to strengthen families, prevent child abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and promote child and family well-being and permanent family connections.
